Services of General Interest (SGI), Utilities Regulation and Consumers Rights in European Law - PRIN 2004 The Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) approved a Research Project of National Interest (PRIN2004) and mandated seven University Research Units (Milano Statale – n.2 Units-, Milano Cattolica, Trieste – n.2 Units -, Udine and Tuscia) to carry on a general proposal on “Services of General Interest, utilities regulation and consumers rights”- (SGI)-. Prof. Maurizio Maresca coordinates the Project. The most distinguished Scholars in European Law are involved as well as Officials from the European Commission, the Italian Antitrust Authority and the Italian Government in the different fields of SGI: transports (Proff. Nascimbene, Frigo, Lang, Lopez) , energy (Prof. Malinconico), financial and bank law, postal services, television and media, agricoltural services (Prof. Ragionieri). The research activity will be carried on taking into consideration the users rights approach, what is significantly influencing the new developments of the European legislation (Prof. D’Addezio – Dean of the School of Law of Udine -) and the WTO discipline (Prof. Bestagno). A specific attention to port and infrastrucures will be given from Proff. Querci and Pines. The Project will develop over 2005 and 2006: during this period scientific congresses will be promoted as well as a scientific production in the mentioned areas.
